We had some excellent and interesting visitors in school this week, including a former pupil and a representative of Scripture Union. It has also been good to see various visitors, including prospective parents and pupils, but also from the voluntary sector, coming for tours of the school and various meetings, and they have all received a warm welcome.
In our foyer, we are now enjoying some new sofas which help to give a warm welcome and a comfortable atmosphere.
The modern languages department had a visit from a French theatre company this week, and the Junior School had an exciting visit from their new Head of Junior School, Mrs Russell, who joins us on the 9th of March. We very much look forward to welcoming her to our school.
Our Junior School and S1 and 2 Hockey girls were unable to play on Saturday due to the weather again (I am looking forward to seeing a fixture!) but they managed a bit of training; it said a lot about the girls and their parents who waited for them that they got stuck in anyway...!
This week is another busy one, with our first ever piano concert coming on Tuesday evening. This is to celebrate the arrival of our new grand piano in the hall. The piano is a special addition to the whole school, and we look forward to welcoming the audience on Tuesday. For the first time, the event will be streamed on the school website. This is very much a trial, so give tuning in a go, and feed back to us to see if it works. One of the intentions of streaming this event, apart from letting family members who are not local to Hamilton hear the concert, is to try and continue connections and links with Hamilton's 'other family' in Burkina Faso, and to keep up the link with Nay and Nilda, who spent the first half of term with us, and who made such an impact with our pupils. As part of the concert, we will be showing Nay's piano playing on our new piano in a video taken by one of the friends he made while he was here.
